WHY SIMATS COLLEGE OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational Therapy is a health and social care profession that enhances the physical and mental health and well-being of individuals to enable them to achieve their full potential. Occupational Therapists work with people of all ages to help them to overcome the challenges of everyday life resulting from illness, trauma and ageing.

WORLD BOOK RECORD
SIMATS College of Occupational Therapy (SCOT) under Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) conducted "Geriatric Screening (Occupational Therapy Elderly Screening)" which is the comprehensive assessments for older adults to identify the potential medical, physical and psychosocial issue of the elderly persons. This program has conducted in more than 25 no's with more than 750 elderly people in and around chennai on 27th December 2024. This is to find out their needs, physical and psychosocial issues faced by the elderly persons and provide them with proper intervention strategies followed by this program. This will be very helpful for them to lead a barrier free life. This is the first initiative program by the Occupational Therapy professionals in the geriatric population. The World Book Record recognizes this program.
KALAM'S WORLD RECORDS
Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy (SIMATS) students and occupational therapists performed a screening awareness program for more than 3071 primary school students in the districts of Kanchipuram, Chennai, Thiruvallur and Chengalpattu, on 21.11.2022, to identify the difficulties of students in reading, writing, behaviour, school environment, social relationships & physical and mental difficulties at early stages. This program was organized for a social cause to create awareness for the parents, teachers and students of primary school students on early intervention and it is being recognized by the Kalams World Record and they presented the medal and certificate to the Honourable Chancellor of SIMATS Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan, the Director of SIMATS Dr.Deepak Nallaswamy, Principal Dr.M.Arun Kumar, Faculty and students of Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy at SIMATS, Thandalam.
